Character Analysis and Theory:

What is Weezing?

Have you ever wonder what Weezing is? You know that pokemon that looks like a floating conjoined baby rattle with eyes that pours smoke out of its bumps. Is it that you maybe asking yourself? NO! Weezing is an interesting Pokemon not just because of its design, but because it can tell you quite a bit about the Pokemon Universe. The first thing people think Weezing is base off is a naval mine. This is due to how similar Koffing looks to a naval mine, floats and the fact that he can explode. Even though this is true it doesn't explain why he would be a poison type pokemon, you would think he would be steel if he was a naval mine. Sure, you could say this is due to him being generation one and steel type didn't exist back then, but considering the fact magneton and magnemite got that type added means that Koffing and Weezing doesn't have that much of a close relationship to a naval mine besides looking similar, floating, and exploding(which is a move that a huge variety of Pokemon can learn, including a bell). The second thing is a living meteorite, this again is because its look, but it's just weird. It would have better evidence toward it if he evolved using a moon stone, but he doesn't and that ends that that idea. The third and most interesting is air pollution. Currently their are three pokemon that show that the Pokemon world has a lot of pollution to the point that it can create new life.

The first is Grimer, and Muk that represent water pollution. Water type Pokemon have a larger variety of special moves than they do physical. Muk can pretty much wall special moves very well, and has access to giga drain and thunder punch meaning it have an advantage against water types. The second is Trubbish, and Garbodor that represent land pollution. Even though there is no Land type we can safely assume that the closest to this type would most likely be the grass type, ground type, or the rock type. Out of its other brothers Garbodor is the most balanced meaning he can take the physical attacks of the rock type, the special attack of grass, and out speed the slow ground type. This along with access to grass, fighting, and poison move ensure that Garbodor has a advantage when fighting these types as a whole. Last and the star of this article we have Koffing, and Weezing, who represent air pollution. Air pollution obviously is closest affiliated with the flying type. Which like the others Weezing has an advantage over. Most of flying type pokemon moves are physical which Weezing can easily wall flying Pokemon, and with access to Electric move, he can also float meaning he can easily engage in air combat with them. As a whole you can see how each of what the pokemon represent it has an advantage over.
The only odd part that makes Weezing stand out than this other two counter parts is he’s design. When you look at Muk you can easily see he is water waste that pollute water and kills fish, when you look at Garbodor you can easily is land fill destroying the beautiful land, but when you look at Weezing you can't really tell what he represent right away. So why is Weezing design so different from the other two. You would think he would look like a factory extruding smoke, instead he is this ball that extrude smoke. This maybe due to the fact that a design that doesn't restrict him to the land would make him a bigger threat to the air, or he may represent the aftermath of pollution. There are been studies that show that air pollution can cause birth defect such as heart problem, respiratory illness, cancer, and etc.... Weezing second head maybe a tumor, this may explain why he is happy as a Koffing but once he evolves he's expression changes to pain and sadness. As a whole that's just my analysis and my theory make of it what you will.
